My Review of Johanna's Blog

** This review was written based off of a direct quote from an email from Instructor Newlands to my partner about what she expected the review to look like. I shaped my response to fit this expectation. I also have posted my review onto my Epotfolio just as my Mentor instructed me and my peers to do. I will post Johanna's review of my blog to both of my wix sites as soon as she has written it. **

What the Instructor’s Expectations are:

“1. Give some general feedback about the reviewee's blog. How was your blog-reading experience? Is the blog enjoyable to read? Is there enough content? Address how well the blog posts manifest the criteria on the required sections on the rubric. (quote/response, citation, and three questions)

2. Respond to one of the posts that you find most interesting, and/or about which you have something to say. Give your opinion. Pipe in on the subject. Start a conversation.”

My Review of Johanna’s Entire Blog:

1.) Johanna’s blog is simple and clear. This was the first thing I noticed when I first visited her Tumblr page. I liked this about her blog because its simplicity made it easier for me to navigate through her blog post summaries. The second thing that I noticed while I was unconsciously comparing her blog to mine, was that her reviews were much more in depth and extended greater in length than mine did. I understood after seeing her posts, that she had taken a lot of time to respond to each of the readings so that she could give solid feedback on what she thought about the assigned readings. Unfortunately, I did notice that there were many blog posts that were not accounted for on her blog so I was unable to see all of her work. On a positive note, when I began to read her posts, they were not constructed of rubbish and jibber jabber, but instead, the content was meaningful and well thought through. I am not sure as to whether or not she used the rubric to write each blog post, but each fulfilled every expectation presented in the Summary Criteria Rubric.

2.) I focused on her response to The Impossible Image and The Enclave by Richard Mosse since The Enclave was such an impacting topic/exhibit to me. The most interesting part of her response to The Enclave was the way she described viewing it and the image she painted with her words. I thought that Johanna did an excellent job with creating a description so that her reader could understand how intense the exhibit was. The only thing I would like her to add in her response, is more about the background info Richard Mosse explains in the Impossible Image and from the reading (newspaper like) handout our class was given. By doing so, the reader might’ve been able to have a better context as to what The Enclave was about so that the reader could understand its importance.
